Heinz unveiled their brand new Tomato Ketchup Blended with Balsamic Vinegar which will only be available online (at least at first) and comes exclusively in an old fashioned glass bottle.
Currently only available through Facebook, the shishi condiment replaces the typical white vinegar with balsamic and comes in a chic looking black labeled glass bottle. Heinz hopes that by creating an ordering bottle-neck (ha ha) so-to-speak it will increase an anticipatory buzz which in turn will spurn on more sales.
The SRP is $2.49 (plus a $2 shipping charge) making it more than twice as expensive as the same sized regular flavored plastic bottle. On their page Heinz encourages fans to “experience the richer, more sophisticated side of America’s Favorite Ketchup.”
The Balsamic Vinegar ketchups will be available in select stores on a limited edition basis but may be made a permanent addition to the Heinz ketchup lineup if sales warrant it.
